Over 350 rebels killed in strategic battle in Sudan: report


KHARTOUM, May 29 — Over 350 rebels were killed by the Sudanese army in a recent battle which liberated the strategic town of Abu Karshula in South Kordofan, the Alwifaq daily reported Wednesday

.”The armed forces and the Mujahideen have defeated the rebel forces in a battle that lasted for five hours, leaving more than 350 rebels dead and many others injured,” the paper quoted Abdul’ al Khalil Adam, deputy coordinator of the People’s Defense Forces, as saying.

He added that the battle would not end with the liberation of Abu Karshula, but would continue until the rebels are repulsed from all locations.In April 2012, the rebel Revolutionary Front Alliance, which brought together the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/northern sector, the Justice and Equality Movement in Darfur as well as the Sudan Liberation Army/Abdul-Wahid

Mohamed Nur faction and Minni Minawi faction, attacked Um Rawaba and Abu Karshula areas in North and South Kordofan States.On Monday, the Sudanese army announced the liberation of Abu Karshula from the rebels of the Revolutionary Front Alliance.
