YANGJAKOT FESTIVAL

Kaski, May 24: With a view to promoting domestic and international tourism ahead of the Nepal Tourism Year 2011, a Yangjakot Festival has begun at Thumakodanda, a north-eastern VDC of Kaski.

The four-day festival is organised by Milan Youth Club. Exhibition of locally produced handicrafts, agro products and endangered dances such as Ghatu, Sorathi and Krishna Charitra are the centre of attraction of the festival, according to the festival organising committee.

Open volleyball, basketball, running, pot-breaking and dancing competition among other competitions will also be held, said Dikendra Gurung, a member of the club.

Culturally and naturally rich Yangjakot is the entrance to Dudhpokhari and a home to rich Gurung culture. Despite having immense tourism potential, the beautiful village is still in shadow. RSS
