WHERE BABIES GET SHARES EVEN BEFORE BIRTH



Makwanpur, May 27: A women’s cooperative institution active in northern parts of Makwanpur district has announced share allotment for unborn babies of its pregnant members.

Pundya Shree Women’s Savings and Loan Cooperatives situated at Bajrabarahi VDC has made this declaration.

The cooperative has formed a child delivery fund to ensure safe delivery of its pregnant members and provide share worth Rs 500 to unborn babies, said Janaki Shrestha, vice-chair of Pundya Shree Cooperatives. She said pregnant members can also withdraw loan up to Rs 3,000 at a minimum interest rate for delivery.

The fund was established for the benefit of pregnant women so that they can buy nutritious food, delivery materials and pay ambulance fees, Shrestha said.

Bringing 688 members of five wards of the VDC in its fold, the cooperative is providing loans to over six pregnant women every year.

The financial institution also provides loans up to Rs 20,000 for vegetable farming, livestock farming and businesses. RSS
