STRESS TO EMPHASIZE POPULATION MANAGEMENT

Birgunj, May 28: Special emphasis should be laid on population management programme by reducing the prevalence of gender discrimination for the socio-economic transformation of Nepal, said participating speakers.

At a district-level Training of Trainers (TOT) on population management organized by District Public Health Office, Parsa here on Thursday, they underlined the need of massive public awareness campaign for the effective management of population.

No substantial improvement has been so far visible in economic and social status of Nepal due to failure in executing effective programme for population management, said Trainer Sushma Tiwari, adding, ‘Poverty and social disparity will be alleviated in Nepal only after effective and proper management of population’.

Chief Public Health Officer of District Public Health Office, Parsa, Arun Kumar Mahato, stressed on population control initiatives for sustainable peace and development in the country and such initiatives should be reached to grassroots level.

There are altogether 15 participants in the five-day TOT conducted with the objective of contributing to effective management of population. RSS
