Panchthar, May 28: All farmers of Yasok-1, Saubasesbesi have been worried when paddy seeds and standing maize they cultivated have turned dry and destroyed with the prevalence of long spell of drought.

The scorching heat has made seeds plantation dry with no rain taking place for a long time. With this, paddy plantation, which had to be completed by mid-April, has yet to begin.

Most of the paddy seeds are getting drier and standing crops of maize are also not likely to give any yields, he further said, adding, ‘it is the only source to eke out living of the entire family’.

Sale of vegetables and agriculture yields is the main source of income generation of the people of this area. How people could survive their livelihood with all-pervasive political instability and conflict on the one hand and such natural disaster on the other, social worker Tanka Bahadur Ghimire expressed his grief.
