DISPLACEMENT TRIGGERED WITH ONSET OF RAIN

Myagdi (Beni), May 28: Locals of Chhusang VDC of beyond the Himalaya district Mustang are on the verge of displacement with the onset of rainy season.

They are likely to face hazards with the soil erosion triggered by the Kaligandaki River flowing through Damodarkunda and Nursing rivulet having salt mine. They are compelled to migrate from the area when the entire village is in risk with increased encroachment from both sides, said locals.

The fertile land nearby Chhusang VDC is also increasingly ruined due to the erosion caused by the River and rivulet. Locals started migrating to safe places from the village when water-induced disaster is growing towards human settlement.

Locals of upper Mustang and tourists thronging the area have been facing difficulty due to the lack of suspension bridge over Nursing Khola. Villagers of Charang, Ghami, Sukhang, Lomanthang, Chhoser and Chhonhup VDCs of upper Mustang have been bearing the burnt of the lack of suspension bridge. RSS
