DISCUSSION-CA TENURE EXTENSION



Kathmandu, May 28: Three major political parties are busy holding internal and external discussions while the timeframe of Constituent Assembly (CA) is expiring today.

In this course, a meeting of the NC office-bearers held at NC Acting President Sushil Koirala’s residence at Maharajgunj this morning.

The meeting discussed the agenda of extending the tenure of the CA and building consensus on package, informed NC Spokesperson Arjun Narsingh KC.
“Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal would not resign from his post before consensus on package explored”, added KC.

He told the meeting has decided to continue discussions with Maoists for exploring consensus on package,
Likewise, parliamentary party meeting of the CPN-UML has been recently held. Parliamentary Party President and UML Chair Jhalanath Khanal had presented the current political situation of the country.

Following the meeting, Chair Khanal told journalists, “Consensus will take place within this evening to extend tenure of the CA”.
The meeting decided to be maximum flexible for the extension of the timeframe of CA, informed CA member Rabindra Adhikari.

He further informed the meeting has decided to cast votes in support of the bill on the amendment of constitution the government will table in the Legislature-Parliament for the extension of tenure.

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament has not convened yet. The meeting was scheduled to take place at 8 AM this morning. RSS
