MAOIST, NC AGREE TO SEEK CONSENSUS IN PACKAGE
Kathmandu, May 15: An agreement has been reached between the Unified CPN (Maoist) and Nepali Congress (NC) to find a way out of the ongoing political deadlock through a ‘package’.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, Koirala said the meeting was focused on the extension of the CA term and implementation of the past agreements reached between the government and Maoists.
“I am hopeful that the protracted political deadlock will end soon as it has been agreed to seek the consensus by taking all parties into confidence,” said Koirala. “ In the meeting, I raised the issue of forming a new government along with the participation of Maoists by returning the property seized by them, dismantling the paramilitary structure of Young Communist League and implementing the past agreements,” he added.
According to Koirala, Dahal was also positive in all these issues.
At present, many parties representing in the CA are planning to amend the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2063 once again with a view to extending the CA tenure so as avert a constitutional vacuum possible after May 28, the deadline for issuing a new constitution. RSS
