UCPN-MAOIST LOSING PEOPLE’S CONFIDENCE : GACHCHHADAR

Biratnagar, May 19: Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has said the Unified CPN (Maoist) has been losing people’s confidence as it failed to transform itself into a fully democratic party.

Inaugurating the first central council meeting of the Nepal Telecom Employees’ Union here on Wednesday, Gachchhadar accused the three major parties of neglecting the issues of federalism, democracy and inclusion. “The three parties are becoming a total failure to find a way out of the ongoing political deadlock,” claimed the DPM.

Gachchhadar, who is also the chairman of Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik), claimed that no force can topple the incumbent government formed with the support of 22 parties. The nation is likely to plunge into complexity as the leaders failed to distinguish wrong and right issues; he said and suggested the UCPN (Maoist) to transform itself into a civil party.

The UCPN (Maoist) cannot be a civil party until it dismantles the paramilitary structure of the Young Communist League (YCL), returns the seized property to the rightful owners and disarms the PLA fighters living in the cantonments, said Gachchhadar.

He stressed on the need to give an opportunity to his party, the fourth largest party in the Legislature-Parliament to lead the next government. The parties should reach to the people to extend the CA term, he added.

The programme was chaired by Union President Saroj Kumar Dhungana. RSS
