PARLIAMENT MEETING PUT OFF

Kathmandu, May 26: A meeting of the legislature-parliament called at 3:00 pm today has been postponed till 8:00 am on Friday May 28, the day scheduled to promulgate constitution.

It is the third consecutive day the parliament meeting was put off issuing notice due to the main political parties failing to forge consensus on extending the term of constituent assembly.

As a result, the discussion on the bill registered in the parliament for the amendment of interim constitution to extend CA term is stalled.

If this bill is not passed on the deadline meeting of May 28, the country will obviously face constitutional crisis with the end of the term of the parliament and the constituent assembly.

The top brass of Nepali Congress, UCPN-Maoist and CPN-UML are now holding bilateral and trilateral meetings in order to reach agreement to extend the CA term.

Similarly, leaders of other political parties representing in the parliament have also been engaged in intensive talks in this regard. RSS
