POKHARA SEES PRICE-HIKE BY 6 pc
Kaski, March 10: The price of daily commodities has increased by around six percent in a year in Pokhara.
The price of daily commodities is on the rise every year in Pokhara due to political instability, said the officials concerned.
While presenting the working papers in a seminar on inflation organised by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Department of Investigation here today, NRB sub-director Gopal Prasad Bhatta said the price of daily commodities is increasing every year due to liquidity seen in the NRB.
Similarly, speaking at the same programme, Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industries president Man Kaji Makaju said business sector has adversely been affected due to fluctuations in the price of daily commodities. He stressed on the need to immediately take a step by the NRB to control the price-hike in the market. He also sought the regular monitoring of the market by the Local Consumers' Committee to control the price-rise.
Dr. Yadav Sharma Goudel, teacher at the Prithvi Narayan Campus said people mainly from poor community have been hit hard by an increasing price of daily commodities.
Repeated market shutdowns and increasing hours of load-shedding are the main causes of price-hike across the country including in Pokhara. In the recent survey conducted by one magazine, Pokhara was listed in the most expensive town in the country. RSS
