MINISTER TIWARI FELICITATES PLAYERS



Kathmandu, May 15: Minister for Youth and Sports Ganesh Tiwari felicitated Nepali players who won medals in the Eleventh South Asian Games (SAG) amidst a function here today.

Minister Tiwari presented Letters of Appreciation to the players winning medals in the SAG and the instructors both Nepalis and foreign of different sports at the function organized by Newa Jagaran Surakshya Manch at the covered hall of the National Sports Council in Tripureshwar.

Speaking on the occasion, Sports Minister Tiwari said the sports sector has not made the expected level of progress due to the present political instability in the country. He said the development of all sectors would be possible only after the establishment of lasting peace in the country.

Kaluman Tamang and Ramesh Magar, the two Judo players who were injured in the elevator accident on the first day of SAG were given financial assistance of Rs. 5,000 each.

President of the Manch Rajeshwarman Sthapit presided. Nepal won altogether 37 medals, including eight gold medals, nine silver medals and 20 bronze medals, in the individual and group events of 13 different genres in the Eleventh South Asian Games (SAG) held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
