TURKEY CONDEMNS TERRORIST BOMBING IN NORTHWEST PAKISTAN

ANKARA, Jan. 13 (Xinhua|RSS-Nepal) -- Turkey on Friday strongly condemned the latest terrorist bombing in Pakistan's northwest town of Jamrud, which killed at least 20 people and wounded dozens others.

Turkey learned with deep sorrow about the killing of individuals in the blast in Jamrud of the Khyber region on Jan. 10, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

"We strongly condemn this terror incident that targeted Pakistan's stability, and wish God's mercy on those who died, and speedy recovery for those wounded, and we offer condolences to families of the victims," the statement said, adding Turkey shares the pain of the brotherly Pakistani government and people.

The ministry said that Turkey will continue its support for Pakistan in counter-terrorism.

On Tuesday morning, a blast hit a taxi stand in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of Khyber Agency, killing at least 20 people and wounding 40 others. The target was a group of pro-government peace militiamen about to leave in a pickup parked near the taxi stand for Zhakha Khel in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency which borders Afghanistan, Pakistani media said.
